I must beg everyone's pardon, especially my husband, Steven's, for
leaving out of my report his *favorite* bird: We saw turkey vultures on
Saturday, 15 April, at two places near the coast.

We first saw them near Highway 6, between Rainbow Falls State Park and
Raymond; I think there were four soaring there, in the company of a
buteo-type hawk. Then, at the Raymond airport, we saw six TVs; Steven
says they appeared to be in three pairs. They seemed to be soaring in a
thermal for awhile, then would set their wings for a glide to move to
another thermal. We're not sure if they were slowly making their way
north, or just hanging around. --Anna Coles, Seattle, WA
