There are five AOU-recognized subspecies of the Sharp-tailed Sparrow. Three
of these have discontinuous ranges in Canada and the extreme north of the
United States. Two others breed along the Atlantic Coast from Maine south.
The split is between the three "northern" groups as one species, and the
two "southern" groups as the other. The summer range of the two overlaps
partially in Maine.

What is the "north-south" split of Sharp-tailed Sparrow?
