I think you could say that mother nature is already striking back - if you
look at the levels of mortality in Africa, for example. Unfortunately, the
human race has so much ingenuity in staying alive that by the time its
behavior is truly self-limiting (due to starvation or disease), most of the
surrounding habitats have already been destroyed or modified beyond
recognition. It seems that when we go, we take the rest of the world with
