What a morning! I first looked up and out my window because there was a
flock of swallows (violet-green) swooping around my deck, roof and yard.
Then, birds seemed to descend out of the sky... in addition to the usual
robins, towhees, and song sparrows, there was a small flock of juncos (my
over-wintering juncos left about three weeks ago) and a savannah sparrow
(!). In addition to this activity there was my first flock of
yellow-rumped warblers and a hutton's vireo in the trees along with CB and
BC chickadees, bushtits, a nuthatch, flickers, a jay, and a pileated
woodpecker calling in the distance. THEN I had a female rufous hummer
poking around - all in the space of 15 minutes!!!

It's getting hard to get any work done around here, what with all these
distractions... Oh, well, back to it.
