Birds of Singapore, by Christopher Hails and Frank Jarvis (Times Editions, 1988)
Very nice little book published in Singapore, discusses 131 species
and illustrates most of them, with a checklist of all species. Good
general discussion of Singapore bird finding, including specific
localities.

A Guide to the Birds of Thailand, by Boonsong Lekagul and Philip D. Round
(Saha Karn Bhaet Co., Ltd., 1991).
Excellent well-illustrated guide that is very useful for Malaysia
and nearby mainland areas, although, of course, some bird species occur in
adjacent countries that aren't in this book.

Where to Find Birds in Malaysia, by John Bransbury.
I think this is the title of this new book (published while I was
in Malaysia, trying to find good birding places; fortunately, a lot of them
were listed in a travel guide).

A Field Guide to the Birds of Southeast Asia, by Ben King and Edward
Dickinson (Houghton Mifflin, 1975).
This classic work is in need of revision but is still of value for
the southeast Asian mainland. The Thailand guide is much better for
illustrations
