I have a friend in San Diego who swears by salt in the carpet....she
sprinkles it in and lets it sit for a couple of days. I've tried
the boraxo, but am going to use the baking soda this time. So far
this year haven't had many fleas.

I like the bell idea too. My "c" is also deaf so can't hear the
bell or the birds so he isn't really interested in them. I have to
wave the food container at him ... he will never know the joy of
hearing the can opener or the rattle of the food bag. He's 12 now
and gets along fine for being deaf. His problem is that he is LOUD.
He yowls for everything, including getting a drink out of the sink,
telling you he is going to the litter box, or for no reason at all
that I can see. He wants in, he wants out, he wants a drink, he
wants more food (never mind the bowl is full). When I fix his food
I have to wave the crunchy bag at the bowl and at least pretend to
pour more in or he doesn't believe there is food there. He's weird.
