Chicory (Chicorium intybus) is a Composite whose leaves and flowers are
good in salads and whose roasted roots are an ingredient of Cajun and
Creole coffee all across SW Louisiana and in N'Orleans as well.

The Chickaree (Tamiasciurus douglasii) is our Northwest close 'cousin' to
the red squirrel (T. hudsonicus).

Is it Indian plum or ouzo berry?

I call it Indian plum, but Oso (bear) berry is another common name. What
I'd like to know is whether the taxonomists have decided on _Osmaronia_
or _Oemelaria_ for the genus.

To keep this thread in the 'birding' category, chickarees feed a lot of
goshawks and waxwings and thrushes eat a lot of the Indian plum berries
(actually drupes) in my yard.
