Just to underscore this, Skip Russell, who used to contribute a lot to our
conversations, recently posted to me that he had decided that his precious
time was better spent birding than sitting at a keyboard. Parenthetically,
Skip also wrote that "You might be surprised to know that Tweeters now
outproduces BirdChat in overall volume, in terms of total lines of text per
day!"

Gives one pause, doesn't it? I hardly ever get out birding nowadays, but I
spend easily >5 hrs/week dealing with e-mail messages, a morning's birding
time.

So I'm signing off for a bit, as I have to get ready for a week-long trip
to southern New Mexico & Arizona to attend a Dragonfly Society of the
Americas meeting. A week in the field looking for and at dragonflies, with
a bird or 10 thrown in, maybe a rattlesnake or cactus flower or two. I can
dig it. How about celebrating our participation in tweeters by everyone
going out in the field for a week and turning off your computers! I'll be
back around the 13th of August, so don't write anything *too* interesting
in the interim.

Hasta luego (I'm getting in practice for Mexican food), Dennis
