Tweets,

Haven't been in WA state very long. The white pelican does occur here
east of the Cascades and in the Columbia basin?

I spent almost 20 years in northern Utah and visited the Bear River
Refuge a number of times. During one visit in late afternoon, I remember
looking out over the Great Salt Lake and seeing a spiral of large birds
soaring in a thermal updraft. There must have been a least a hundred of
them. As they tilted their wings, the sun flashed off the white
surfaces. What a glorious sight. A flock of white pelicans soaring and
spiraling up a thermal must be about the flashiest bird sighting anybody
could see.
