Just curious if anyone out there observed a crash
in breeding raptors or other birds this year.
Seven out of eight pairs of red-tailed hawks failed
this year at ROMO. We also observed failures in
American kestrels and prairie falcons. In
discussion with FWS personnel from Rocky Mountain
Arsenal east of Denver they observed a similar
occurance to Swainson's hawks. We attribute the
loss from the cold wet spring and early summer. We
also noted nesting failures in songbirds such as
mtn. bluebirds, chickadees, and Wilson's warblers.
