Both the posts belows ring true for the Seattle area, where epidemics
among Pine Siskins have been reported more than once in recent years. The
only Pine Siskin I have ever seen in Wallingford was in my yard, during
one of the "epidemic alerts," partially eaten - by a cat? Who knows, since
raccoons roost in the tree it was under, but I'd bet my last quarter its
capture was due to sickness.
