Subject: Rare Bird Alert
Date: Sat, 05 Aug

This evening David Bailey had a juvenile Hudsonian Godwit at the Siuslaw
Estuary deflation plain, near Florence. He had the bird from about 8:15
p.m. to 9:00 p.m. throughout the plain, first finding it toward the north
end and following it toward the south end. The bird loosely associated
with yellowlegs and dowitchers, but nothing in particular. The bird was
still there when Dave left.

You can reach the deflation plain by driving toward the south jetty of
the Siuslaw River from Highway 101. Roughly half way to the jetty is a
dike extending eastward from the road. Park just north of the dike at a
parking lot, and walk east on the dike. This will take you to the south
end of the deflation plain.

Maybe someone else can give more detailed directions.
