Susan, there's a series of cheap paperback books about birds by Donald and
Lillian Stokes, published by Little, Brown and probably available at many
bookstores. One is called _The Complete Birdhouse Book_ and it has basic
instructions for building birdhouses, with fancier variations and
specifications for many species of birds. There's also an Ortho Book,
_Building Birdhouses & Feeders_. These are also thin, inexpensive
paperbacks about all kinds of home building and repair, and they're
probably easier to find than the Stokes's books. All the books I'm
referring to are the large, thin 8-1/2 x 11 books, almost booklets, that
are often displayed on racks of their own in bookstores. Now, after
you've got the nail set, get your thumb out of the way and you'll still
be able to hold your binoculars. :-)
