Scott,

I have kept birding notes over the past 25 years (some from the eastern
USA and mostly the Rocky Mt./Utah west). I have been in Seattle since
May, 1992 and in Des Moines, specifically, since December, 1994. My
initial surveys have been "cursory" and overviewish, but I would be
motivated to set a more formal schedule and keep better notes if it is
important to a larger picture of Puget Sound birds. Since, I have a
complete fall and winter season coming up, I'd planned on doing that anyway.

Glad to send any helpful observations for your book.

Just read your second post, and the bird off the Fishing Dock at Des
Moines Marina is definitely an adult, not a juvenile. I'll keep a look
out for accompanying chick, though. It's exciting to think that this
particular marbled murrelet may have had a nest in forests relatively
adjacent to the Sound. Thank you for your information, also.
