I took this trip three years back and managed four "lifers" including the
Whooping Cranes, of which we saw two. Unless arrangements have changed,
this is not a "commercial tourist tour". The University of Saskatchewan
does great work tracking the birds and making the public aware of how
fragile a species they are.

When I went, about 16 of us travelled in a mini-bus both north and south of
the city. All were birders and one lady counted her four-hundreth species
for her Canada year-list. If you also want to see some truly remarkable
Sandhill Crane and geese concentrations take this trip.

If anyone does take up the invite and drives, plan to go via Calgary for the
return trip. There is a hawk watch that runs at the same time which is well
worth a visit and I will supply directions for anyone that wants them.
