Thanks Don for including the Zoo in your comments.

We have a full slate of trips run in conjunction with tour companies
primarily to third world destinations for purposed of viewiing wildlife.
While these are not birding trips per se, we did see well over 200 species
last year on a trip I led to E. Africa. There are ususally two or three
birders on every trip and we make converts along the way because it gets
boring just looking for the big five.

Because they are not birding trips and because 90% of the money goes to
commercial tour companies rather than the zoo or conservation activities I
haven't felt that it was appropriate promote them on Tweeters.

On the other hand I had no compunction about pushing our for-pay migratory
bird celebration and breakfast(such as it was) last Spring.

The Zoo offers a variety of fee-supported NW field trips and host Bud
Anderson's Raptor class each year. These oversubscribe without much
promotion.

I'd be interested in hearing what a broader group of tweeters think. Right
now I'm inclined to support a combination of the critereia put forth by Don
and Stuart.
