We also have a significant loosestrife problem along the Sammamish River. I
would like to help organize a purple loosestrife pull with the Tweeters. I
have had a brief conversation with a King County Surface Water Management
group involved in a loosestrife pull on the Sammamish Slough and they would
welcome volunteers. We need to work with them so that King County Parks
gets notified. KCSWM thinks the most effective place to focus on would be
to remove the loosestrife seedlings that are coming up thick at restoration
planting sites from last year's fish habitat restoration. Other areas
include terrible infestations at the Lake Sammamish outlet and on the slough
north of NE 116th St. If you are interested, particularly if you are an
Eastside Tweeter or a Montlake Fill veteran that would like to share your
knowledge please contact me by off-list email. Let me know a weekend that
would be good, I will compile and post the results and we can get on with
the pull.
