Went to Ocean Shores for my first time today. I realize it takes awhile to
learn an area but I was surprised at how little I saw. The Jetty was the best
birding. A quick look at a Wandering Tattler and a fly by from a Black
Scoter. The Caspian Terns were very busy feeding. Lots of Heermann's Gulls.
The gates were open at the Sewage Treatment Plant and not seeing any signs we
went in. Mistake. But before we were yelled at I did get a quick look at some
Red-necked Phalaropes. The rest of the areas were very quiet. Bowerman Basin
had more phalaropes and some very active Bonapart's Gulls. I think the
weather was just too nice to have many birds.
