Not like you can ever get into a SAS field trip even if you do get the
newsletter. Seriously, these trips generally fill up within hours of the
pre-arranged call-in time, and preference is given to members (others get
put on a wait-list). One option would be for those of us who usually sign
up alone to post the trips ahead of time and see if anyone wants to
accompany us (members are allowed to sign up one guest). There are so many
SAS members that they have had to go to some lengths to set up a specific
protocol for getting into the field trips. (The sad part of this is that
the only trips that don't fill up are the Birdathon trips, which require
some advance fund-raising.)

One thing that might be fun is to have more tweeters field trips that we
arrange ourselves. We've certainly got enough competent people to lead
them, as well as enthusiastic beginners to round out the group. We ought to

try it sometime.

Another option would be to post field trips by local Audubon Societies other

than Seattle's, who may be less crowded.
