Wendy,
My favorite hawk watching perch is Diamond Head on Swauk Pass. Swauk Pass
is in the Wenatchee Mountains just a couple miles east of Blewett Pass.
Take Hwy 97 from Cle Elum (off I-90). At the top of Swauk Pass turn right
(south east) and follow the main forest service road, you can see the large
monolith called Diamond Head to your left (east). The road takes you to
the saddle just to the south of Diamond Head. Walk or drive the last, rough
1/4 mile to the southwest shoulder of the mountain. There are people there
watching from early Sept. until late Oct. The "best" times are the last
week or 10 days of Sept. and the first few days of Oct. Feel free to contact
me for more info.
Happy Birding,
