Hi Dennis and all,
You can search the tweeters archives for subjects and/or text of
messages. In the limited amount of searching I've done it's apparent
that the search *is* case sensitive despite the instructions. You can,
however put in a 'pipe' or vertical bar to indicate 'or.'
Address your search to: listproc at u.washington.edu
search tweeters chickadee | CHICKADEE
should yield which archives the word 'chicadee' or 'CHICKADEE' appear.
Then to obtain the resulting archive issue the command
get tweeters tweeters.log9507
or whichever number your search yielded. Unfortunately it's not possible
to retrieve individual messages by themselves. I just retrieved the log
above and it exceeded my quota as it was 1,800K in size.
If you send the command:
help search
to the listproc you'll receive detailed unix instructions.

I'm in the process of editing the tweeters FAQ and will post it soon.
Hope this helps,
