A visit to Atkins Lake (30 east of Waterville on Hwy 2) "produced" the
following shorebirds on August 22:

Killdeer 1
Greater Yellowlegs 18 juveniles
Lesser Yellowlegs 1 juvenile
Sanderling 1 juvenile
Western Sandpiper 25 all I could see well were juveniles
Least Sandpiper 14 juveniles
Baird's Sandpiper 45 all I could see well were juveniles
some of the Baird's were *very* tame, I got within 3m
Red-necked Phalarope 20
Phalarope spp. 100+
