And the photos of the flock of shovelers and Semipalmated Sandpiper were
taken at that same fabled pond. I started going out to the fill in about
1975, and one of the first birds I saw there was an American Golden-Plover
at that pond. Read Kevin Aanerud's paper in vol. 1 of Washington Birds to
see what birding was like there a decade ago.
