OFFICIAL CHARADRIIFORMES BIG DAY AND SHOREBIRD CENSUS RULES
Many of you wil probably be participating in the shorebird census
this weekend. I thought it might be interesting to attempt to combine
the suggestion of a thematic big day with some real science. If you
are not officially participating in the census, you can still play
along.
1. You must count individuals to qualify.
2. Shorebirds don't recognize county lines or state borders, neither
should you. Data will be compiled based on eco-regions.
3. You only get 24 continuous hours, Saturday, Aug 26 or Sunday,
Aug 27.
4. Teams may not split up. No teams larger than 37 individuals birders
will be allowed.
5. The compiler reserves the right to ask for detatils on any species
seen by a group. Details are required on all OBRC birds.
