Chiming in or is it chirping in late on the reading list, and
bringing the story back where it belongs, Patrick OBrians work is
accurately described by the NYTimes as the best historical novels
ever written. PERIOD. I agree and I love that genera. His dialogue
aptitudes are wonderful. I had the privilege to hear him speak in
person in Seattle this spring as one of an audience of several
thousand, mostly made up of sailors and doctor types, all attesting
to his accuracy and literary talents. While no expert on pelagic
birds, I have always enjoyed OBrians discourses on seabirds and
have never detected an inaccuracy. Incidentally, his latest book,
The Commodore, makes frequent reference to wariangles. Care to
venture a guess? Stuart will remain silent and stick to his
loosestrife.
