I retired last year and now have time for a hobby of my youth...birding. I
also have time to take up the sport of paragliding. Today both interests
came into unusual focus.

I had just launched from Tiger Mountain and was working the hill looking for
thermals. I found a small one and as I started to circle and gain altitude I
looked below me and found that a large red tailed hawk had selected the same
thermal and was circling in the same direction. We circled together for four
or five revolutions as he gained altitude. He looked over at me as he passed
about ten feet from me and then he was above me and on his way. It was a
thrill only birders could appreciate so I share it with you.
