Meant to mention in my Scrub Jay note that Lewis' Woodpeckers were
downright abundant in Klickitat County Saturday, all over the oaks and
ponderosa pines and sailing the airways east and west of Goldendale. We
saw about 7 in one dead pine tree!

Best critter of the trip was Lestes unguiculatus, a new county record (this
is a damselfly, for the few among you who didn't know). Also found a big
green mantis, totally surprising, presumably one of the species introduced
from the bug-control trade.
