I like the current thinking on the formation of species subcommittees
(clubs, societies, gangs?) and think this could potentially be a great
way for tweeters and other birders to become more "holistic" bird enjoyers.

Rather than formulate a bunch of guidelines up front why don't we instead
focus on organizing a few clubs (Canada goose people here, Song sparrow
people over there!) and let them decide what they want to study,
depending on the species they target? Some groups may want to dive into
reference material while others will want to study behavior, etc. One
big resource Tweets can provide is simply to inform groups about the many
study options they may have for a given species.
