Subject: Band-tailed PIGeons

Sorry for plagiarizing someone else's message with the emphasis on PIG but
its appropriate. Last night there was a flock of 20+ Band-taileds in the
Vancouver suburb of Kitsilano. There are many Oak trees in the
neighbourhood and the pigeons come in at this time of year for the Acorns.

My prime identification factors for separating these from Rock Doves are:
size, much less of a "V" shape wing in flight and timidness. The Rock Doves
will endure anything in the park while the pigeons scatter at the sound of a
dog barking.
