At the recent AGM of the Wild Bird Trust, Wayne Campbell gave a talk which
included some interesting points about bird strikes and buildings. There
has been research done into tall building design and there are things that
can be done to reduce the number of injuries. Something I learnt is that
the silhouette of hawks you can buy do very little to prevent birds hitting
glass; it seems that the best protection on glass doors, for example, is to
break up the glass reflection with some form of image every 18".

You could try contacting Wayne Campbell, Curator of Ornithology, at the
Royal British Columbia Museum in Victoria. Have patience, he is hard to get
hold of, and don't use Internet mail as he doesn't read it!
