Welcome back Dennis. I remember you telling me earlier in the year that
November was a good time to be gone from the Northwest. Right again!

I have slides of Marbled Godwits taken at various parts of the day and
weather conditions. The bird in the late afternoon is quite red and the bird
photographed under an even overcast (my favorite lighting condition) is quite
different from that taken at noon on sunny day. And this does not include the
use of flash. As a photographer I have always felt that the best way to
illustrate birds is by a painting unless there's ample room for annotation
for each photo describing in what region it was photographed, what season,
what time of day, what weather conditions and what type of film. And of
course this was all before Photoshop and digital manipulation.

And yes a friend and I were up in the Sierra watching "a" warbler. Nashville,
says I, MacGilvray's says he. The debate heated. We were both adamant. We were
both right as two birds finally made their way to the top of the shrub.
