Well, the gull is rare AT John Day Dam and elsewhere inland. It was a first wi
nter Black-legged Kittiwake, right below the dam. Other gulls were in low numb
ers--20-30 Bonaparte's at John Day, mostly California at McNary Dam, also in lo
w numbers. Good numbers of Red-tails including a Harlan's at Cold Springs Rese
rvoir. NO Roughlegs or falcons (other than Kestrel). Numerous Black-crowned N
ight Herons at NcNary Wildlife area. Lots of W-C Sparrows but little else.

Previous inland records of B-L Kittiwake include one at Heppner about 30 years
ago and one on Sauvies Island in 1977. (Fide Birds of Oregon)
