I'm looking for somewhat cheaper (under $500) 7 or 8 power binoculars with good
light gathering, wide field of view and close focus, i.e. good for forest
birding. I have a pair of the new Kowa 7 x 40's on order and wonder if any of
you have any experience with them or have any brands or models you would
particularly recommend. I've tested the Swift Audubon 8.5 x whatevers that are
so popular now, but they don't squeeze close enough together for my eyes and the
focus wheel is a little out of reach. This could be a problem with other porro
prisms, but in fact, I'd like to find suitable porro prisms.
