First, pictures can never be as reliable as seeing the bird yourself. I
agree with Kathleen that the bird had a sizable black patch underneath, I
believe I mentioned that in an earlier post. However wet matted feathers
can also appear to be 'black' patches, as I've seen on some Song Sparrows.
