The bird was relocated around 10:45 this am (after I had been traipsing
around for 90 minutes, of course). A group of us had good looks; my
perception is that if you don't see the extensive black in its belly
(which is hard to see unless it's in the open and has its head up), it
looks more female than male. Sexing this critter is a tough one indeed. I
hope the Northern Shrikes, Cooper's Hawk and Merlin that were also at the
fill aren't as interested in this bird as we are (it could make sexing the
bird a "mute" point).
