Subject: Swarms of Redpolls in NC WA

Tweeters,

One hour of birding between Oroville-Sitzmark Ski Area-Tonasket this
afternoon produced 2 large flocks of Common Redpolls feeding on birch
catkins. One flock of 50 birds was along the road to Chesaw in the canyon
several miles east of Oroville. This section of road can be identified by
looking for the section that climbs steeply up through conifers. There are a
few birches in this section too.

The other flock of 40 was at the north end of the Highland Snowpark area
road which is south of Havillah.

This route also had 5 Northern Shrikes.
