First thing - I'm not sure about the naming of the pond. Especially
if it ends up surrounded by trees. A lot more people contributed as
much if not more than I ever did. A certain John Hebert and Susan
Collicot spring to mind ;-)

Why not name it in the spirit of the early (European) explorers and
name it something which reflects the character and situation of how
it came into it's present state, How about: Exhaustion Pond,
Frustration Pond, Pond of Deceit, Wet Copse of Dogwoods, Duplicity
Pond - Am I bitter at what happened, yes I am, but I'm sure I'll get
over it - eventually ;-)

As far as the chestnut-colared longspur (that only took about 2
seconds to type much preferrable to CCLO) is concerned if you
haven't seen it yet - I'd get down there. The bird is so tame I
fully expect it to be nailed by a shrike or harrier pretty soon now.
Not sure if the Great-horned owl would bother with such a small
morsel. Perhaps it will go after bigger prey - two items in
particular ;-)
