Lots of untestable hypotheses abound! I suspect it's the "if you've got
some, I want some too," syndrome. Serendipitously I had just been
formulating a hypothesis about flocking behavior in chickadees. They're
such fearless, sometimes aggressive little guys I think they hang out
together just in case one of them finds something good. However, I never
see two chickadees together on my seed feeder at the same time; they're
taking turns, possibly because they don't like each other *that* much.
How's that for the anthropomorphic thought for the day?
