I post this on both as many might find it interesting. Yesterday
afternoon, as we were leaving home, my wife and I spied a flock of 15
Tundra Swans flying very low over the house (treetop level, around 100
feet). The overcast was quite thick at the time, and the swans seemed to
be moving SW. About two minutes later, we saw presumably the same group
of swans flying down the Willamette toward Sauvie Island (I say
presumably because the count was again 15). Seems to me like th birds
didn't have good sky bearings in the low overcast (the hills were evn
hard to see), and flew south until the hit the river and then back up
it.
BTW, my White-throated Sparrow continues--was there Saturday
morning; didn't see it yesterday, but was hardly at the feeders.
