Can somebody out there tell me more about hummingbirds wintering over in our
neck of the woods? I thought I had seen the last of them back in September
when the fushcias were fading out, so I put my feeder away for the winter.
Then in mid-November I spotted a little guy checking out a lone bloom on a
confused azalea in my back yard-- it was too far away for me to identify the
type. I resurrected my feeder and hung it near the area I saw the
hummingbird, but didn't see him (her?) again. In anticipation of last
night's windstorm, I took the feeder down yesterday afternoon. And, wouldn't
you know, this morning the hummingbird was back, darting around in the tree
where the feeder has been hanging. I didn't think it had been used because
the level of sugar water didn't go down much, but maybe s/he has been
sipping all along!

So fill me in-- what type is it likely to be? And what do hummingbirds
subsist on this time of year? If there's anything else I can do to keep my
little visitor around, please advise.
