Hello, this is Portland Audubon Society's Rare Bird Alert. This recording
was made Thursday December 14. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls
at 233-3976.

On December 6 a PRAIRIE WARBLER began coming to Eric Horvath's yard in the
South Beach section of Newport. It is still regularly seen, especially
during the morning hours. If interested in seeing this bird contact Eric at
541-867-6791.

The BRAMBLING coming to a feeder at Nesalle, Washington was seen over the
week-end and is probably still coming in. The WHOOPER SWAN continues to be
seen at Summer Lake.

The heavy wind storm Tuesday December 12 brought large numbers of RED
PHALAROPES to the estuaries and inland to the Willamette Valley. Many were
seen December 13 in Lane, Benton and Polk Counties. A FORSTER'S TERN was
at Bandon December 13. A MARBLED GODWIT was at Yaquina Bay and four ROCK
SANDPIPERS were conspicuous at Depoe Bay also December 13. A bright male
OLDSQUAW was on Netarts Bay December 10.

A GYRFALCON was at the South Jetty of the Columbia River December 13 along
with a ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK and over 200 RED PHALAROPES. The falcon was
working over Trestle Bay.

On December 11 two SHORT-EARED OWLS were near Canby. A RED-THROATED LOON
was on Roslyn Lake near Sandy that day. An OSPREY was over MacMinnville
December 13.

Two pairs of CINNAMON TEAL were on the Independance Sewage Ponds December
13. The SAY'S PHOEBE continues to be seen at the E.E. Wilson Wildlife Area
north of Corvallis. Large numbers of PINE SISKINS are now swarming into the
Willamette Valley and visiting many feeding stations.

A BRANT was on the Deschutes River in Bend December 7. A HARRIS' SPARROW
and three WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS are coming to a feeder south of town.

A group of 57 very late AVOCETS were at the north end of Lake Abert December 9.

Two adult WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILLS were found along Highway 140 east of
Klamath Falls near the Lake County Line December 10. A large number of RED
CROSSBILLS were also in the area.

Thats it for this week.
