What data has been published on the success of doing laparotomies
in the field ??

The only information I have is very annecdotal. Some people swear
that there is no problem, others have the other opinion.

The only data hinting at a success or failure rate that I have seen
was published by J.P. Myers as a means of verifying whether using
discriminant analysis for sex sanderlings was working. A sample of
100 birds were 'lapped' in the field. 15 birds were subsequently
described as having 'left the area'. Whether this was emmigration or
a casualty rate it is not possible to tell.

I'd be very interested in hearing if anyone has info ??????
