Folks: We have a record... unconfirmed as yet, but its apparent Toppenish
smashed its previous CBC record by 2, possibly 3 species. We can thank November
and Decembers copious rains that have created vast flooded fields with clouds
of waterfowl, unprecedented in Toppenish CBC's history. New were Trumpeter
Swan, Oldsquaw, N. Saw-whet Owl, White-throated Sparrow. Record Mallards,
raptors *6 harriers, 14 Cooper's, 1 Goshawk, 122 Red-tails, 6 Short-eared
Owls), Loggerhead Shrike (4). Still mulling over a House Wren report. Hermit
Thrush was a nice addition too.

Great lighting conditions, good birders... all contributed to our great
performance. Alas... no BUSHTITS... WE TRIED THOUGH. next year, we'll pull out
all the stops for that very local, denizen of Satus Creek and its tributaries.
