Mike,

The only bird in my limited experience that shows these color combinations is
a Crested Guineafowl, Guttera edouardi. It has a dark grey body flecked with
white spots, a blue head and crest., and can have dramatic red stripe
extending from under the eye down the neck. The Kenya subspecies G.
pucherani also has a red eyepatch.
However, they are bigger than qual, 18-22 inches long, about chicken-sized.
They are found in much of East Africa but are raised here. We used to have
some free ranging throughout the zoo.
