And from what we know about ducks, hybrids should be produced because male
Eurasians pair up with female Americans and follow them back to *their*
birthplace. Thus individual male Eurasians could be found anywhere to the
north or northeast of us, I should think. But there's an awful lot of
marshland across western Canada.

American Wigeons are regular winter visitors to northeast Asia (I know
nothing of the sex ratio there), and it's also possible that hybrids come
from *those* male Americans, accompanying female Eurasians back to their
breeding grounds in Siberia.
