Well, in Oregon we ban cars from most of the coast except that
portion that lies from the Columbia to about 20-25 miles south
(all sandy due to the River, much like Long Beach Penninsula).

Of course, our public ownership of beaches is rooted in the
fact that the entire Beach is a State Highway (despite being mostly
closed to auto traffic!). Thank you Oswald West, the first Governor
of Oregon to recognize and act upon the conservation potential
of the automobile! Declare the beaches highways, then ban the
cars! Amen!

We're schizophrenic...but we don't fear no Prop 48, either!
