Statement of Purpose:

CAVNET has been established to facilitate scientific discussions concerning
cavity-nesting birds.This list has been created for researchers, academics,
and others with a common interest in discussing the scientific aspects of
cavity nesters. CAVNET will be a source of contacts, summaries of research
endeavours, notification of new publications and a medium to encourage
scientific discussion. The list is moderated by the list owners (Eric L.
Walters (email:walters at uvic.ca) and Cameron K. Ghalambor
(email:camerong at selway.umt.edu)) to ensure that discussions are focussed to
the aims and goals of CAVNET. The list owners will actively discourage any
topics of discussion that can be answered elsewhere and are more appropriate
for birding-related discussion groups such as "birdchat" or newsgroups such
as "rec.birds". This would include topics such as "stopping woodpeckers from
damaging houses" or "the best type of feeder for attracting chickadees". To
subscribe to CAVNET send a message to listserv at uvvm.uvic.ca and in the body
of your message type "subscribe CAVNET your name". Any other questions can
be directed to the list owners, Eric Walters (walters at uvic.ca) or Cameron
Ghalambor (camerong at selway.umt.edu).
