I spent a wonderful Christmas weekend at Long Beach -- the weather was
great! My first time birding there. The highlight( on 12/26) was seeing
a great egret by the side of the road -- south of Chinook, about a mile
from the bridge to Astoria. It was beautiful, so white, so elegant.

My question is: is this unusual to see this time of year? According to
my bird books (Audobon, Peterson's, Birds of Oregon/old), we shouldn't
have seen it. TIA for any responses.
