Hi Tweeters,
There's an adult female Tufted Duck on Lost Lagoon in Stanley Pk. in
Vancouver BC. Your heart may sink when you see the 19 gazillion Lesser
Scaup and Common Goldeneye (approx 4,000-5,000 Lessers & 500-600 Commons,
joined near and after sundown by up to 3,000 Barrow's coming in to bathe
and drink the fresh stuff) also on the lagoon, but don't panic: the bird
spent the day just off the concrete promenade just below the bus
loop/concession stand at Georgia and Chilco in a small flock of Lessers.
That's also the site of the Stanley Pk. Nature House beside the lagoon
below the bus loop, currently closed for renovations.
Nice unmistakeable bird, big crest.
Also on lagoon was the Common X Barrow's Goldeneye. Common head markings,
Barrow's back pattern, head-shape intermediate.
