I have just compiled the data from a year's survey of the
birds & wildlife in the L. Hills Greenbelt in east
Bellevue.I thought there might be others out there that
would be interested in the results or data.
I walked the area from Larsen L. to Phantom L. 3-4
mornings each week during 1994. I kept a record of the max.
no. of each species seen on one walk. At the end of each I
entered the data in a chart. I ended up with a chart showing
week by week for the entire year the species seen. I
summarized the data by month on a computer.

I had done a similar survey in 1990 & thought it would be
interesting to compare the data. In 1990 I recorded a total
of 79 species and 81 species in 1994. There were 14 species
seen only in 1990 & 16 species seen only in 1994. The
combined total for the two years was 95 species.
Other wildlife I saw included coyote, muskrat, river
otter, weasel & raccoon. I've seen the otter regularly at
Larsen L. the past three winters from Nov. thru Feb.
If anyone is interested in more info or seeing the
detailed data feel free to contact me thru Tweeters or by
phone. I still walk the area 3-4 mornings a week.
If anyone wants to join me sometime I would be glad to show
them the area. It takes about 1-1/2 to 2 hours depending on
the bird activity.
